We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

When to Get Tested

  • HIV and Syphilis: Testing is recommended 1–3 months after possible exposure.
  • Hepatitis B and C: Testing is recommended 2–3 months after possible exposure.
  • Other STD tests: Testing can generally be performed soon after possible exposure.

Testing Methods

HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C:
Blood tests. Use the lancet provided in the kit to collect a small blood sample from your fingertip.

Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea and Trichomoniasis:

  • Men: Urine sample
  • Women: Vaginal swab sample

Candida:

  • Men: Skin scraping sample
  • Women: Vaginal swab sample

All samples can be collected conveniently at home using the equipment provided in the kit. Place your samples in the appropriate containers and return them to the laboratory using the prepaid return envelope included with your kit.

We will email you full English instructions, along with video instructions to help you collect your samples correctly.

You can post the envelope in any red Japan Post mailbox near you or take it to a Japan Post office.

Shipping

Shipping is included in the price.

Your test kit will arrive within approximately 3–4 days after your order is placed. The kit will be delivered in discreet packaging.

We can ship test kits anywhere in Japan, but we do not ship overseas.

If you live on a military base, we can arrange delivery to a designated location near the base. Please provide your base location in the address section of the order form.

Results

Your test results will be ready approximately 1–2 days after your samples arrive at the laboratory.

You can view your results securely through your private online account.

Your specimens are tested at a certified medical laboratory that also processes test orders for clinics and hospitals.

Payment

We accept credit card payments and bank transfers.

For bank transfers, please complete the bank transfer order form below the credit card order forms. We will process your order and email you the bank transfer details.

Is Home Testing More Expensive Than Going to a Hospital?

If you have symptoms that may indicate an STD, you may be able to receive insurance-covered testing at a hospital or clinic.

If you do not have symptoms, you may need to pay the full cost of each individual test.

Compared with private, self-paid testing at a hospital or clinic, a home testing kit can be slightly less expensive because there are no doctor consultation fees.

What Happens If My Result Is Positive?

If your result is positive, JHI can coordinate a doctor’s appointment with a contracted clinic associated with the laboratory.

The doctor can provide medical advice and, where appropriate, prescribe treatment.

Treatment may be covered by your health insurance, subject to the applicable insurance requirements.

We do not charge an additional arrangement fee for this assistance.

Why Are JHI Home Testing Kits Slightly More Expensive Than Some Other Kits?

JHI provides more than just testing. We also offer support if you receive a positive result.

If necessary, we can help coordinate a doctor’s appointment and connect you with appropriate social support programs for HIV and Hepatitis, including support that may be helpful for people who require long-term treatment and ongoing care.

Our partner laboratory has over 30 years of experience in sexual health testing and provides testing services for clinics and hospitals.

The laboratory also employs certified STD testing technicians accredited by the Japan Society for Sexually Transmitted Infections.

We believe that reliable testing, professional laboratory expertise, and support after receiving your results are important parts of a complete home testing service.

Cancellations and Returns

Cancellation is not accepted after payment has been completed.

Returns are accepted if the package or test kit has a defect that prevents you from collecting your samples correctly.
