Where can I consult fertility issues?
On getting pregnant, you can consult general ob/gyn doctors or fertility specialists. The first step is to consult with a general ob/gyn. They will refer you to the specialist facilities if advanced care is necessary. Common tests for men often can be done at fertility specialists. Although the number is small there are also male fertility clinics.

How much?
Fertility procedures are not covered by Japanese Health Insurance (some parts may be covered). For example, AIH (Artificial insemination by husband) costs about 200,000 yen or more, IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) costs in the range of 300,000 to 500,000 yen or more. These costs vary depending on the clinic.
Subsidy for Fertility Treatment
Your local city subsidizes the costs for fertility procedures such as AIH and IVF. For cases in Tokyo, they reimburse maximum of 300,000 yen for the first time application. There are a number of requisite conditions to apply for this subsidy and the paperwork process is complicated. We can help check your eligibility and write application forms which are all in Japanese. Contact us.
Can a single woman or a same-sex couple undergo the IVF?
Japanese regulation does not approve a single woman or a same-sex couple to undergo the IVF using donated sperm of the third person. As of now in Japan, it has to be a legally married heterosexual couple to have the procedure. For this reason we do not have information of a hospital that will perform fertility procedures for single women and a same-sex couple.
