Morning after pill/The pill after/Emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs)
Emergency contraception, also known as the Morning After Pill, can prevent pregnancy after unprotected intercourse. This medication is available by prescription only, and the person who takes the pill must visit an OB/GYN clinic in order to obtain it. The pill must be taken within 72 hours of intercourse, and the earlier the better.
Overall costs of obtaining the morning after pill range from about 10,000 to 20,000 yen in general, including the doctor’s consultation.
The fee varies because there are different types of medication available.
Consult with your doctor to learn how they are different and which type would be better suited for you.
