Can I bring medication with me when I go to Japan?
Yes. Provided the amount of medication you bring is a one month supply or less, no doctor’s letter or certification will be necessary.
However, if you wish to bring medical narcotics or psychotropics (medication for mental illnesses), a doctor’s certificate and other documents must be submitted to Japanese Customs.
If you have concerns about bringing your medication or if you plan to bring more than one month’s supply, JHI can contact Japanese Customs on your behalf. We will assist you in bringing your medicine to Japan.
*Note: Illegal drugs, including but not limited to cannabis, amphetamine and isobutyl nitrite (RUSH) are prohibited and may not be brought into Japan.
