Abortion/Termination of pregnancy
In Japan, abortions are performed at designated OB/GYN clinics. It is a legal surgical procedure for patients with economical and social reasons.
Medication to terminate pregnancy is not available in Japan.
In the early stages of pregnancy, approximately 7 to 10 weeks, it is an outpatient surgery. After 12 weeks, hospital admission is required and will be very difficult to find a clinic/hospital that can perform the procedure.
The procedure is not covered by Japanese Health Insurance, and the costs vary by provider. The average cost is around 100,000 yen to 200,000 yen up to 10 to 12 weeks, often required to pay cash.
JHI can assist you in finding a provider in your area. For a small fee of 1100 yen we will also arrange the appointment on your behalf.
We respect your privacy and your contact with JHI will be kept strictly confidential.
